What Is Paramedical Tattooing?

Paramedical tattooing is a relatively new use for the centuries-old practice of tattooing with permanent ink. It uses combined elements of permanent makeup, body art, and camouflage to improve a person’s appearance. Paramedical tattooing has many applications, including:

  • Restoring pigment to discolored areas
  • Covering birthmarks or darkened areas of the skin
  • Filling in for hair loss on the scalp or brows
  • Recreating tissue lost to surgery or trauma
  • Disguising a scar

It can even be used to create a permanent medical alert bracelet for people with serious health conditions, such as diabetes, cardiac disease, or life-threatening allergies.

At Love Your Look, our goal is to restore confidence and provide emotional healing for our clients who have often suffered loss of self-esteem or may be embarrassed about their post-surgical or post-trauma appearance.

Types of Paramedical Tattooing We Provide

Paramedical tattooing can make damaged or missing tissue look normal again or completely hide a scar. This is what we do with hyper realistic areola tattoos and scar camouflaging.

Hyper Realistic Areola Tattoos

After breast cancer, certain surgeries, or trauma to the chest, we can restore the appearance of a real areola using paramedical tattooing. Our hyper realistic restorations of areolas include 3D nipple protrusion, which is most often needed after a mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery. You will be amazed at how realistic the finished result is, using a tattoo version of trompe l’oeil that fools the eye into believing there was never any tissue damage.

Scar Camouflaging

Scar camouflaging may be added after breast surgery, or it may be desired for other types of wounds, whether from cancer surgery, cosmetic surgery, trauma, or burns. We can blend the scar into the surrounding skin, adding the appropriate pigment, which is the most common approach. Another alternative is to incorporate the scar into a tattoo design, so it’s unobtrusive or looks like it’s intentional.
